In a bid to promote child growth and development amidst recent economic challenges in the country, the federal government has been urged to introduce more women empowerment programmes to enhance the welfare of children.

Guest on Politics Today, a Kapital FM Current Affairs Programme, the Convener National Youth Jobfair and Founder, Kraftivity Africa, Maryjane Anulika Udoudo, made the call while featuring on the programme in Abuja.

Speaking on the topic “Children’s Welfare Amidst Economic Challenges,” Udodo stressed the need for the review of some policies, especially the school feeding programme for effective service delivery.

“We find Nigeria instead of moving forward, we are moving backward, the government under the leadership of President Tinubu has tried with the school feeding program, but there should be a lot of factors to be considered, we can be more strategic and inclusive, address the root cause”.

“The truth is that we can still get it right, if we are sincere,

Udodo, who also emphasised the need for immediate intervention programmes called on government to invest more in infrastructural development and job creation initiatives.

“There is a need for immediate intervention and not political palliatives. Government agencies have to man up and do their job, we have seen people that are occupying positions without knowing what they are supposed to do.

While calling on parents to be resilient amidst the economic challenges in the country, Udodo urged private organizations to compliment the efforts of the Federal government in strategic engagement of women and children in the country to reduce social vices.
