The Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, is calling on the public, private sector, and international community to provide support to help respond to the humanitarian needs of the affected communities following the devastating floods in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The devastating floods have displaced thousands of people, leaving them in dire need of immediate aid.

The disaster has also ravaged homes, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure, cutting off access to essential necessities like food, water, and shelter for many vulnerable individuals.

According to a statement by the NRSC, Coordinator Communications and Advocacy Adviser, Chima Nwankwo, and the National President, Oluyemisi Adeaga explains that the organization is working tirelessly to provide food, water, shelter, and medical care to those affected, but the scale of the disaster requires additional support.

“The situation is heartbreaking, and we need all hands on deck to provide the necessary support”.

“With the situation on the ground becoming increasingly dire, the Nigerian Red Cross is appealing for donations, volunteers, and support from all sectors to help respond to the growing humanitarian needs”.

“The organization is committed to providing vital assistance to those affected and supporting them in their time of need.

The NRSC Secretary General, Alhaji Abubakar Kende notes that the situation is escalating, and immediate action is required to prevent a severe humanitarian crisis.

“As we continue to provide aid and comfort to those in need, the Nigerian Red Cross Society passionately appeals for additional support from the public, private sector, and international community”.

“The scale of this disaster necessitates a comprehensive response to ensure that all affected individuals receive the assistance they require.”
