NSCC Collaborates With NLTF To Establish Centres For Older Persons

In a bid to promote healthy ageing in the country,the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), is to partner with the National Lottery Trust Fund to build senior centres for older persons across the country.

The Director General of NSCC,Dr Emem Omokaro made this known during a courtesy visit by the Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju in Abuja

Dr Omokaro explained that Technical Working Team would be set up by the two Agencies towards working out modalities and implementation plan.

According to the Director General of NSCC,the agency already has the prototype which aligns with “One Community One Senior Centre Initiative and other Social Inclusion Programs for vulnerable older persons.

The DG NSCC, further explained on the transformative programs of NSCC such as income security, Health and Social Care, One Community One Senior Centre Initiative, Continuing Engagement of Capacities of Older Persons, Age Friendly Environment and Elder Justice Campaigns, that are all tailored towards improving the quality of life, dignity and wellbeing of senior citizens in Nigeria.

The Executive Secretary, National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, said the Partnership between the two agencies would bring development for senior citizens and this is inline with the Renewed Hope Agenda and Social Inclusion Programs of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Senior Citizens across the country.

Tosin added “that as part of NLTF mandate, the provision of basic health care facilities is part of our mandate and we are ready to collaborate and partner with NSCC to bring relief to our senior citizens”.
