Nigeria’s Falconets, two-time silver medalists, fell to Mexico 1-2 in a thrilling match on Monday in Bogotá.

This served as their final tune-up before the 11th FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, which begins on Saturday.

Mexican Lomeli scored an early goal in the 20th minute, condemning the Falconets to a 0-1 loss in Bogota, Colombia. The Falconets fought back hard, launching wave after wave of attacks against the Colombian side on the turf of the Club Banco de la República.

They encouraged the team to build on their recent victory over Australia and be confident as they prepare for the global finals.

Nigeria will take on Korea Republic in their first match of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals at the 10,000 -capacity Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogota on 2nd September – the same venue where they will confront three-time champions Germany two days later.

Their final match of the group phase is against Venezuela at the Estadio Pascual Guerrero in Cali on 7th September.
