The FCTA Health Services And Environment Secretariat, HSES, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, with NISA Premier Medical Group, popularly known as Garki Hospital to promote affordable, accessible and sustainable healthcare delivery for residents of the territory.

During the signing of the MOU in Abuja, the Mandate Secretary, FCT – HSES, Dr Adedolapo Fasawe also distributed world class Personal Protective Equipment, PPEs, to Medical Directors to be used for patients free of charge.

She also hinted that plans have been concluded by the FCT Health and Environment Secretariat to begin distribution of drugs as paliatives to those in need of healthcare.

Dr Adedolapo therefore urged parents to accept the Malaria Prevention drug intervention that health workers will be carrying from door step to door step for children below five years from now till November.

She stated that the PPEs which were donated by Donors to the FCT Administration is targeted at enhancing Health care workers safety and patients wellbeing to prevent transmission of infection.

To achieve this, Dr Fasawe has directed the Medical Directors to warn health workers to comply with the rules of using one PPE per patient.

She also cautioned health workers against attending to patients on mufti to guard against transmitting infection to their family members through their clothings.

“No health worker should be found in Mufti attending to patients in hospitals henceforth to avoid transmission of infectious diseases”.

Dr Fasawe said the essence of the partnership is to bring quality healthcare delivery closer to the people, particularly those on the Health Insurance Scheme.

Dr Fasawe urged all residents to enroll under the FCT Health Insurance Scheme, FHIS, to be able to access quality, affordable health care services in the territory.

Dr Fasawe assured that the collaboration of FCTA with NISA Premier group will be beneficial to both parties as well as improve quality health care indices in the nation’s Capital.

She however warned that the FCTA would not hesitate to terminate the partnership within 90 days of notice, should NISA Premier default in delivering the required services according to the terms of reference, targeted at Renewing the Hope of the populace by assisting them to reduce “out of pocket spending”.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Pioneer Permanent Secretary FCTA- HSES, Dr Babagana Adams thanked the FCT Minister for working the talk of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu in the Health Sector for sustainability.

He noted that the Public Private Partnership, PPP, is meant to complement Government’s effort towards achieving Universal Health Coverage for all.

“Our mantra is ‘working the talk’. We are all here to also demonstrate sustainability through PPP. Till date, nobody sees Garki Hospital as a different appendage from Government Hospital. When they list FCT Hospitals they also list Garki hospital… But now, with the help of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Dr Fasawe and all the technocrats that worked on the agreement, we are trying to put it in place, so that we achieve it” Babagana said.

Dr Babagana Adams further thanked the Donors for the gesture and appealed to well meaning Nigerians to come and partner with FCT Administration in the provision of PPEs and other consumables, emphasing that Government alone cannot solve the healthcare need of the citizens.

” Like Oliver Twist, we are open for more partnership. Send in your donations and we will put them to good use.”

A Pharmacist in FCTA- HSES, Boniface Ikwu, listed the PPEs and surgicals distributed to include : Novaline Tubing Sets for Hemodialysis, surgical overalls for doctors and patients, Fansidar tablets, MMTs multivitamins for pregnant women and PACC products also for malaria prevention for children between ages Zero to 5.

Responding the CEO NISA Premier Medical Group/ Manager of Garki Hospital, Dr Ibrahim Wada promised NISA Premier Group’s readiness to deliver on their mandate better than what they have done in the last15 years.

Dr Wada who noted that the renewal of the MOU for another 15 years, followed the dissolution of the litigation that was previously between NISA Premier and the FCT Administration, tasked the Medical Directors to own the initiative and put in their best in the course of discharging their duties.

The parties agreed that the mode of payment will strictly be cashless to ensure effective monitoring, transparency, and accountability.
