FG Conducts CBT Test For 12,444 Junior Civil Servants

The Federal Government has conducted Computer Based Test, CBT, confirmation and promotion examination for 12, 444 junior civil servants, including personnel of para-military organisations across the country.

Inspecting the conduct of the examination in Abuja, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, said the initiative was part of reforms to enhance the ongoing digital processes in the Federal Civil Service.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Common Service Office, in the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, Mr Raymond Omachi, Walson-Jack expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination and stressed that Nigeria will not relent in ensuring necessary reforms aimed at repositioning the Service for improved service delivery to the public in line with global best practices.

According to her, “To be relevant in today’s civil service under the Digitalization program, we must be digital you must be computer literate, so there is no place for those who are not computer literate. They need to up the game for those who are not in that position yet, let them get on the train. There are programs in place to train those who are not computer literate.”

In her remark, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management office, Dr. Fatima Mahmood said the computer Based test is to ensure integrity in a transparent manner to avoid malpractices following its success in the JAMB exams.

Dr. Mahmood explained further that “Meritocracy and also integrity to show that everything is done transparently and also in line with our digitilization policy to make sure that we are beginning to build the skills that are necessary for us to function as a world class service. There are a number of measures that have been put in place to make sure everything is transparent and we avoid malpractices in every shape or form. They have CCTV, the questions are jumbled up so you cannot even copy each other. ”

Also, the Acting Director, Information and Communication Technology, Joint Administration and Matriculation Board, Mrs. Funmilola Usman said the examination being carried out in forty-five centres across the country expressed satisfaction that the process has been hitch free from the various reports across the centres.

“I have been in tune with everybody. Everything is going well, and there is no report of incidences that is beyond control.”

12,444 public servants are currently sitting for the confirmation and promotion examination, COMPRO, nationwide, out of which 2,324 are in five centres in the FCT.

The candidates include Officers and Men of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, and other para military agencies.
