News Summit: Taraba Gov Tasks FRCN On Unity To Transform Nig

Governor Kefas Agbu of Taraba State has urged the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN not to relent in using its wide platform to educate, unite and transform the country.

Governor Agbu made the call at the opening of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria’s, FRCN News summit holding in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital.

Represented by the deputy governor, Mr Abdullahi Aminu- Alkali, the governor appreciated the contributions of FRCN and pledged his continued support to the development of broadcast journalism in the country.

Governor Agbu stressed that the country would continue to rely on FRCN in providing quality and balanced reporting.

He noted that the technological era has advanced the journalism profession in strengthening democratic governance and shaping public opinion.

 

In his remarks, the Director General of FRCN, Dr Mohammed Bulama commended the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Kefas Agbu for his support towards ensuring the success of the summit.

The Director General said he would do everything possible to ensure that the corporation maintained its leadership role in the broadcasting industry.

He charged staff to embrace technology in advancing broadcasting.

He assured that the corporation would not relent in relating with the audience and building the capacity of staff to meet the vision and mission of Radio Nigeria.

He also charged staff to uphold the principle of responsible journalism.

Earlier the Director News, Hussainah Akila said the theme of the summit “News Production In A Transitional Media Landscape” was careful chosen to enable FRCN embrace current global trends, to enrich content and curtail the threat of social media.

Miss Akila maintained that FRCN would continue on the path of fact checking to build content capable of satisfying the audience.

Representatives Of the Voice of Nigeria, and other sister broadcasting stations commended Radio Nigeria for providing a platform for its staff to meet annually for the development of the broadcasting industry in the country

The opening ceremony also featured cultural dance by the Taraba State Arts and Culture.
