The House of Representatives has reaffirmed its commitment to the successful implementation of the students’ loan program.
The program, NELFUND, has already disbursed N20,000 monthly stipends to 20,371 students across six tertiary institutions, with plans to extend to 55 more institutions.
In a Statement in Abuja, the House Spokesperson, Akintunde Rotimi, says the program represents a significant step forward in educational support, designed to alleviate financial burdens and allow students to focus on their academic endeavors.
“To date, NELFUND has approved and disbursed over N2.5 billion in student loans, benefiting 22,120 students across twelve institutions.”
Chairman of the House Committee on Student Loan, Scholarship, and Higher Education Financing, Gboyega Isiaka notes that “the operationalisation of NELFUND represents a significant step forward in our approach to educational support.”
He emphasizes that the program is designed to alleviate financial burdens, allowing students to focus on their academic endeavors.
