The Commander General of the Nigeria Hunter and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin has distanced the Service from the national protest by some Nigerians.

Ambassador Osatimehin stated this in Abuja while speaking with newsmen on the planned National Protest scheduled for next month.

He therefore appealed to Nigerians most especially youths to consider the appeal made by President Bola Tinubu on the need to shun the protest.

“We don’t need any form of protest now in Nigeria because President Bola Tinubu is doing everything possible to reposition the country with his various laudable policies and programmes aimed at ensuring national economic development, youth empowerment, food sufficiency, security among others hence the need for all stakeholders to support his administration towards actualizing the renewed hope agenda for Nigerians”, he stressed.

While emphasizing the need for dialogue in resolving issues, the Commander General explained that he has directed officers and men of NHFSS nationwide to shun the national protest and respect constitutional authority.

“I have directed my officers and men in the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT as well as all the 774 Local Government Areas nationwide to shun any form of protest and respect constituted authority by complimenting the efforts of formal security agencies in maintaining law and order in the country as NHFSS is known for peace and maintenance of law and order as well as protection of lives and property of all Nigerians”, Ambassador Osatimehin emphasized.

According to him, NHFSS will continue to compliment the efforts of other formal security agencies in protecting the sanctity and territorial integrity of Nigeria from criminals and unpatriotic elements bent on disturbing national peace, unity and development of the country.

He therefore enjoined all those behind the planned National protest to jettison the idea and support President Bola Tinubu’s led administration in moving Nigeria forward.

He noted that the task of realizing the dreams of the nation’s founding fathers required the collaboration and support of all.

While urging politicians to always place national interest above personal one, the Commander General expressed the hope that with collective partnership and prayers of Nigerians, the country would soon overcome its economic and security challenges.
