Speaker Seeks Effective Laws To Regulate Safety Standards

Speaker, House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, has called for effective laws to regulate safety standards across various sectors.

He spoke at a public hearing on establishing the National Safety Regulatory Board, emphasizing the importance of safety standards for socio-economic development and public well-being.

The Speaker who encouraged stakeholders to contribute to improving the bill, ensuring their views are reflected in the final version stressed the 10th House’s commitment to security and safety.

Chairman of the House Committee on Safety Standard and Regulation, Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi Explained that the National Safety Regulatory Board will tackle emerging safety challenges, prioritize risk assessment and research, and promote public awareness and education on safety matters.

According to him, the goal is to streamline operations, eliminate redundancies, and resolve conflicts across sectoral safety regulatory bodies, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in safety regulations nationwide
