AMAC : Maikalangu Commences Construction, Rehabilitation Of Lugbe Roads

todayJune 26, 2024

Background

The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony to mark commencement of rehabilitation of the Lugbe and Sabo Lugbe roads in the Council.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony at the Lugbe Primary School and Chief Palace Township roads, Maikalangu said his administration remains committed to meeting the aspirations of the people.

He added that AMAC residents will enjoy dividends of democracy and feel the impact of good governance within their various communities if they continue paying their taxes and levies to the government.

He said, “It may interest you to note that as part of the roads revolution we are celebrating today, we are proud to have constructed over 15 asphalt legacy roads across the three zones of the 12 political wards of the Council, all ready for commissioning.

“In line with our vision, this project is focused on making life more meaningful to our teaming electorate. We have also embarked on rural electrification, water supply, health services, women and youth empowerment, as well as enhancing educational development, among others”.

“These projects wouldn’t have been possible if residents failed to pay their taxes and levies to government. I therefore appeal to all residents to please, pay their taxes and co-operate with AMAC in order to serve you better.”

He added: “Our achievements so far in roads construction and rehabilitation are in line with the FCT development roadmap demonstrated by the Minister of the FCT, to give back hope to our people based on the renewed hope agenda of Mr. President”.

“I want to call on the traditional rulers, residents, property owners and other stakeholders to cooperate and compliment government’s efforts by giving maximum support to the contractor so that he can deliver the job in record time”.

Maikalangu further directed the contractor handling the Sabo Lugbe road project to ensure its completion within two months, saying the community members are suffering and in dire need of government presence.

Speaking earlier, the Supervisory Councillor for Works, Dantani Zaudna, said the road projects will help to encourage economic development of the community.

On his part, Head of Department of Works, Andrew Gaza, said the road projects are divided into two, including 1.5km for Lugbe and 1km for Sabo Lugbe.

The Hakimi of lugbe, Mr Saliu Gode, commended the chairman for fulfilling his campaign promises and urged him to do more people oriented projects in the interest of all residents, especially those at the grassroots
