The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, says it has not dismantled patrol points in the South/East region.
FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Corps Commander, Olusegun Ogungbemide, while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, said that contrary to recent media reports, the Corps would never stop conducting patrols to ensure full adherence to traffic regulations.
The FRSC spokesman maintained that the Enugu Zonal Commanding officer, Assistant Corps Marshal, Uche Chukwurah, was misquoted as saying that patrol points had been abolished.
According to him, the message was misinterpreted to imply the elimination of Patrol points in the region due to security concerns.

The FRSC spokesman stressed that the zonal commanding officer’s statement was to reinforce the FRSC new operational strategy, which shifts focus away from static patrol such as roadblocks
Ogungbemide reassured the public that the new management under the leadership of Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, would continue to improve the capacity of the personnel.
This, he said, would be to respond promptly to distress calls and increase the mileage coverage of daily patrol activities on Nigerian roads.
