The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC, Mr Shehu Mohammed has expressed concern over flagrant disobedience by some commercial drivers to road safety rules.

He expressed regret, especially on the issue of overloading and carrying goods and passengers despite series of warnings. and campaigns against the menace.

While monitoring the traffic situation during the ongoing Sallah special operation along the Lokoja- Zuba- Kaduna highway, Mr Shehu Mohammed said the Corps would not relent in arresting and prosecuting motorists that constitute a nuisance on Nigerian roads.

He stressed that the Corps would continue to engage with transport Union leaders and other stakeholders to curb the menace.

According to him, the ugly trend is not good for the image of the country.

FRSC Expresses Concern Over Flagrant Disobedience By Some Commercial Drivers“Carrying two passengers in the front seat by small cars and loading goods with passengers by trailers are not good at all, and the Corps will not accept that”.

The FRSC boss commended the professional conduct of the personnel in the ongoing special patrol, saying monitoring the situation also afforded him the opportunity to identify operational challenges in order to find solutions.

The Corps Marshal used the exercise to distribute flyers and sensitize motorists on the need to always abide by traffic rules and avoid overloading, use of phone while driving, and lane indiscipline, among others.

The Corps Marshal also disembarked overloaded passengers and warmed commuters against boarding overloaded vehicles.

He passionately appealed to motorists to always give maximum cooperation to personnel during the special patrol for effective traffic management and hitch-free Sallah celebration.
