The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC says it has deployed not less than 41,000 Regular and special marshals for a 10-day nationwide special operation for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

FRSC Deploys 41,000 Personnel For Hitch Free Eid-el-Kabir Addressing Newsmen in Abuja, the Corps Marshal, Mr. Shehu Mohammed said adequate logistics have also been deployed for effective and hitch free sallah operations.

Mr Mohammed said that the corps has increased its visibility at some identified critical corridors stressing that 23 help areas have been mobilized to ensure prompt removal of obstruction and rescue operations during the period.

This, in addition to the 15 traffic control camps which would be dedicated solely to identify traffic gridlock areas to be manned by the personnel 24/7 nationwide, while a situation room has been activated for prompt dissemination of information to all sector commands across the country.

He, therefore, called on the motoring public, especially commuters, to checkmate the excesses of reckless drivers and report such to the FRSC operatives or any security outposts on the highways.

The Corps Marshal assured that over 200 mobile courts would be in session to prosecute and check the excesses of traffic offenders during the special operation.

The Corps Marshal said that a sensitization campaign was ongoing in all accredited motor parks across the country, while necessary equipment have been deployed to check the level of alcoholic intake of drivers.

He also appealed to motorists particularly commercial drivers to avoid dangerous driving, imbibe lane discipline, desist from use of phones while driving, passengers manifest violations, use of mechanically deficient and rickety vehicles, loading trailers with passengers and illegal use of spy number plates.

The FRSC Corps Marshal said the new management has proposed the complete use of technology to enhance its operations while awaiting approval and support from the federal government.
