FCTA Flags Off Free Medicare To Improve Health Indices Of Rural Dwellers

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has flagged off free Medical services for people at the grassroots in Kuje Area Council.

This is to bring health care services closer to the rural dwellers.

During the Flagoff in Kuje Area Council, Abuja, the Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud said
the Government of Bola Tinubu is committed to ensuring that the health indices of Nigerians were improved.

Represented by the Mandate Secretary, Health services And Environment Secretariat, Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, she noted that the activities were put together to commemorate democracy day, for residents, pointing out that President Bola Tinubu is interested in the well-being of all, particularly the less privileged.

Pregnant women were on the occasion registered for free Insurance healthcare for one year, while others were encouraged to pick the Health Insurance forms for their families’ health coverage at the cost of #12, 500 per annum.

“Government of Asiwaju is committed to ensure that our healthcare indices improve. Because it is unacceptable to have any woman die of childbirth complications. Nobody here will leave here unattended to. This Government is leaving no one behind.We don’t care about your party affiliation, age or sex or even religion. It is renewed hope for all, ” Mahmoud said.

On her Part, the Mandate Secretary, FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Babagana Adams, said beyond infrastructural development, President Tinubu has given the FCT Administration the mandate to improve services in a manner that it will impact lives and win back their confidence in governance.

Over 500 cooking Gas cylinders were brought to the venue for distribution to help the women reduce the amount of smoke they inhale from firewood , and to protect the environment.

According to Fasawe, medical specialists were mobilized to attend to the over 1000 people seeking medical care, assuring that the programme will be extended to the Primary Healthcare Facilities for proper follow up to those that could not be seen .

“Wike is working not only on infrastructure, but working on the systems and human beings, to be able to enjoy the infrastructure.

“Today, we have six different departments, antenatal care for pregnant women, general out patients care, paediatrics, eye and dental care. We also have health insurance that will guarantee that even after today, you will continue to have access to health.” Fasawe noted.

Some beneficiaries, Sarah Zakka and Fatima Yusuf unanimously thanked the FCT Administration for the free medical outreach and the 5kg Camp Gas.

The Gomo Of Kuje, Dr Haruna Tanko Jibrin described the gesture as a physical demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the programme is the first of its kind in Kuje Area Council.

In a welcome address, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Abdulahi Sabo represented by his Chief Of Staff, Abdullahi Sabo Senior expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the FCTA for the developmental strides, aimed at improving living standard of residents.

” We lack words to express our gratitude… The people of Kuje are happy with the Minister. we pledge to continue to compliment the FCTA at our own level as Renewed Hope Agents”, Sabo said.

Highpoint of the event was the distribution of 5kg cooking gas cylinders to pregnant women who were lucky to pick the raffle draw with “YES”:written on it.

The women were taught to always lit their lighter before turning on the gas, as well as training on how to use locally home grown crops like millet, Guinea corn, vegetables, sweet potatoes with some other nutritional products to make healthy meals for their growing children.
