The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, wants the government to address insecurity, economic hardship, and social injustice.

CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh in his message to commemorate 25 years of democracy in Nigeria said paying attention to these challenges would strengthen Democratic governance in the country.

According to the CAN President, Nigeria’s democracy has been tested by the fires of adversity, from the struggles of its early years to the present-day trials of insecurity, economic hardship, and social injustice.

Archbishop Okoh therefore stressed the need for leaders at all levels to pay special attention to issues that would promote national unity emphasizing that democracy has no alternative to good governance.

He congratulated the government and the people of Nigeria on this year’s Democracy Day.
