Strengthen Traffic Laws With Stiffer Penalties- FRSC Boss

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC wants the Judiciary to strengthen existing traffic laws with stiffer penalties to deter road users from violating established regulations.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed made the call while conducting an investiture of “Special Marshal” on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola at the Supreme Court complex, Abuja.

Shehu Mohammed appreciated the Chief Justice of Nigeria for piloting the affairs of the Judiciary in a manner that upholds the rule of law.

According to the Corps Marshal, “the FRSC appreciates the willingness of the Chief Justice of Nigeria and other distinguished Nigerians who volunteered to join the services of entrenching safety on Nigerian roads as honorary special Marshals”.

The FRSC Boss who was assisted in conducting the investiture by the President, Court of Appeal, Monica Dongban-Mensen said there was no doubt that the capacity and competence of Justice Ariwoola would enhance the existing relationship between the Corps and Judiciary.

Speaking, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola reaffirmed collective commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users in the country.

“I am reminded of the profound responsibility that comes with this title, “the Special Marshal arm of the FRSC which plays a pivotal role in the society.”

The President, Court of Appeal, Dongban-Mensen, congratulated the Chief Justice for accepting the huge responsibility, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute to the eradication of road crashes in Nigeria.
