The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has called on Government and the organized Labour to return to the negotiating table in finding an acceptable solution to the new national minimum wage.
CAN President, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh who expressed concern on the ongoing strike by the organized Labour said it was a legitimate demand for a fair and adequate minimum wage.
According to the CAN President, Nigerian workers deserve a living wage that meets present-day realities, but regretted the devastating impact of the strike on the economy.
He appealed to the government to earnestly consider the plight of Nigerian workers and take decisive action to implement a living wage.
Most Reverend Daniel Okoh stressed that workers are the backbone of the nation, hence, their well being must be prioritized.
The clergyman however encouraged the labour unions to conduct their protests in a peaceful and law-abiding manner, devoid of violence and destruction of property.
