First Lady Confers “Mother Of The Nation” Merit Award On Mmadu

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has conferred on coach Maureen Mmadu the prestigious “Mother of the Nation” merit award for her exceptional contributions to the nation through grassroots football development.

Senator Tinubu actively honored over 500 Nigerian women who have excelled in their various endeavors, creating a powerful gathering of women of timber and caliber in the nation’s capital.

The occasion which held at the Banquet Hall of the State House Abuja, was part of activities marking the one year anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

In the sports sector, former Super Falcons midfielder, captain, and coach Maureen Mmadu left a lasting impression.

Themed ‘Looking Ahead,’ the event celebrated Mmadu’s significant impact through her football academy, The Maureen Mmadu Football Academy, in Anambra State.

According to the first Lady Nigeria today women have been in their best behaviour in the sporting world.

“Nigerian women will always have a pride of place in the world. What our ladies have achieved in all fields of human endeavours are endless and so fascinating.

These women have demonstrated the best of the Nigerian character of excellence, tenacity, ingenuity, and resilience,”

Senator Tinubu particularly praised Mmadu’s motherly role in her academy, emphasizing the importance of female mentorship in sports.

She also noted that Mmadu’s efforts go beyond football, contributing to societal growth and the empowerment of young girls and boys.

The First Lady while expressing her admiration for the former Super Falcons player, highlighted her as a beacon of inspiration for women across the nation.

She urged state governments to follow her lead in recognizing and celebrating the achievements of women like Mmadu.

Senator Tinubu also called on states to honour women who have made significant contributions to their communities, states and the country, encouraging them to support and uplift female role models.

Meanwhile, in her reaction after the recognition, an elated Mmadu told newsmen that the invitation to the event came to her as a surprise.

“I was not aware somebody was watching. 

This will indeed spur me to do more in my passion for grassroots sports development.”

She currently manages a football academy that comprises of girls and boys based at Ozubulu, Anambra state.

Mmadu’s dedication and hard work paid off as The Football Academy clinched third place in the 12th CNS/NOWA Soccer Tournament.

The First Lady’s call to action champions a culture of appreciation and recognition for women’s achievements. It ensures their hard work is celebrated.

Honoring trailblazers like Mmadu inspires future generations of women. Seeing her achievements will motivate them to pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to society.
