Children’s Day : NGO Awards Scholarship To 14 Students

As Nigeria joins the global community to mark the 2024 children’s day, fourteen students from the junior secondary school Gosa, in the FCT have been awarded scholarship for their outstanding performance in academic activities.

Announcing the awards in Abuja, the Founder of a non governmental organization “Sister’s Keeper Foundation” Makosi Musambasi, who stated that the scholarship was presented to encourage the outstanding students who can’t fend for themselves stressed that the initiative was aimed at empowering youths and promoting education in the territory.

Musambasi, who explained that the Foundation will also give the Students Textbooks and Sanitary Pads added that the scholarships will cover tuition fees, to ensure that these bright young minds can continue their education without the burden of financial constraints.

“At this special ceremony to mark the 2024 children’s day celebration held at JSS GOSA, the Sister’s Keeper Foundation will hand over scholarships to 14 students who have demonstrated academic excellence and are in financial need”.

“In addition to the scholarship, the Foundation has donated a wide range of textbooks to the students. These books, covering various subjects, will enhance their learning experience and help them with the resources they need to excel academically” Musambasi stated.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to support the community, the Foundation has awarded scholarships to deserving students, provided essential textbooks, and supplied sanitary pads to girls at Junior Secondary School, Gosa in Abuja” she added.

According to the founder of the foundation, in order to promote both the health and education of the girl child it also donated Sanitary Pads to the school for proper hygiene fand menstrual health for the girls.

“Recognizing the importance of menstrual health and hygiene, the Sister’s Keeper Foundation has also provided sanitary pads to girls at the school. This initiative aims to ensure that no girl misses school due to lack of access to sanitary products, promoting both their health and their education” she noted.

She further emphasized that the foundation’s mandate is to assist and elevate youths in communities for future representation stressing that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and thrive to show case their God given talents.

“Our mission at Sister’s Keeper Foundation is to support and uplift our community, particularly the youth who represent our future,” Musambasi stressed. By providing scholarships, textbooks, and sanitary pads, we hope to remove some of the barriers that prevent students from achieving their full potential. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and thrive”, she emphasized.

Earlier, the Vice Principal Academics of the Junior Secondary School Gosa, FCT, Mr. Gola Titus explained that the fourteen awardees were selected as the best students in terms of academic excellence but couldn’t afford to pay their fees.

Mr. Titus who explained that the school fees is 5,500, but most students are dropping out because parents could not afford it commended the foundation for coming to the aid of intelligent students who were unable to finance their education.

On their part, the beneficiaries, Precious Solomon and Ishaq Amir who pledged their commitment towards their studies appreciated the foundation for the kind gesture.

The Sister’s Keeper Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to, amongst other things, empowering women and children through education, health, and community development initiatives to create lasting positive change in the lives of people by fostering a brighter future for all and also supports breast cancer awareness advocacy.
