The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, in collaboration with the Fresh Air Pro Life Empowerment Foundation, under the office of the Adamawa State Governor’s wife, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, has launched a primary and secondary school garden initiative in Adamawa State.

The primary goal of this initiative is to revive the practice of farming among students and provide them with the opportunity to earn a living through agriculture.

The project will involve students in cultivating gardens, and schools with the best gardens will be rewarded.

To this end, Senator Remi Tinubu has pledged a reward of twenty-five million naira to the school that achieves the first position, aiming to encourage young individuals to engage in farming and promote agriculture in the country.

At the launch in Yola, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, represented by the commissioner of education and human capital development, Malam Umar Garba, highlighted that rejuvenating agriculture in the state will help combat hunger and improve food availability in the nation.

He said Hajiya Lami Fintiri has committed to supporting the winning schools with one million naira for the first position, five hundred thousand naira for second place, and three hundred thousand naira for the third position.

The principal of General Murtala Muhammed College Yola, Alhaji Musa Mohammed, commended the First Lady and Hajiya Lami Fintiri for their commendable project aimed at enhancing agriculture in the country.

In a goodwill message, the acting chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Malam Umar Shehu, described the primary and secondary school garden project in Adamawa State as a significant step towards instilling agricultural practices among youths and ensuring a sustainable future for the state.

He urged the students to put in their best efforts towards actualization of the project.

The event featured an inspection of the gardens by government officials, school representatives, and members of the community, demonstrating their support for the initiative.
