Children’s Day : BAC Boss Commits To Quality Education For Children

todayMay 27, 2024

Background

The Chairman Bwari Area Council, Mr. John Gabaya has emphasized the importance of education and hard work to students.

He stated this during the 2024 International Children’s Day celebration held at the council secretariat in Bwari, Abuja.

The Bwari boss also donated N1 million to pupils from various primary schools in the council’s nine wards.

Gabaya, while congratulating the pupils, described children as the hope of the country, deserving of all the love, care, and attention necessary to prepare them for future responsibilities and leadership roles.

“I thank my wife for organizing this event and to show my support, I will add N1 million to whatever she’s giving the various schools represented here today and also N500,000 to be shared among the teachers. This is to show appreciation for their efforts and also to encourage both the teachers and the pupils in their pursuits of learning.”

He further urged the children to obey their parents, work hard to be achievers and good ambassadors, and look up to God for a brighter future.

That same God that has miraculously made me chairman of this council, will use me to help you fulfill His plans for your life, so I urge you to dream big, work hard, and be unstoppable,” Gabaya added.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector, Gabaya assured that measures would continue to be put in place to ensure that out-of-school children and those of school age access basic education.

He lauded the efforts of the LEA secretariat for their relentless efforts towards improving the education sector and impacting the children in the community.

Mrs. Lami Gabaya, wife of the chairman and the event’s convener, explained that the celebration was designed to make the children feel special.

She noted that the event provided an opportunity to discuss important issues and encourage the children to always do right.

Among the gift items distributed to the children were cash tokens of N3,000 each, school bags, stationery, and whiteboards for classroom activities.

A resource person from the council’s Education Department,
Mallam Jibril Saidu, lectured the children on child abuse, its signs, implications, and dangers.

He urged them to report any instances of sexual harassment to their parents or authorities and cautioned against using phones to watch explicit content on social media.

The event was attended by 300 pupils from LEA Primary Schools across the nine wards of the council, alongside their teachers, staff, and administrators, demonstrating the administration’s dedication to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for the youth.
