Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, says Nigeria’s diversity is a strength, not a call for division.
He therefore called for unity and collaboration to address identity-based conflicts, citing the need to understand and address the root causes of division.
Kalu stated this In Abuja at the opening of a 2-day national engagement on addressing identity-based conflicts, with the theme : “Mapping Actors to Reduce Identity Conflict” organized by the International Republican Institutions and National Endowment for Democracy, NED.
Kalu also called for proper identification of the issues which included farmers/herders clashes in the North Central, banditry and Civilian security arrangements in the North West, the violent agitation in the South East and their possible causes, emphasising that it will help in proferring lasting solutions to the problems.
He also stressed the importance of working together to build a more peaceful and united Nigeria.
