I Am Not Distracted By Rivers Politics, Focusing On Projects- Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike says his priority is focused on delivering projects pencilled down for inauguration to mark Mr President’s one year in Office.

Wike who stated this during an inspection tour of some projects to be commissioned by the end of the month in Abuja said he would not allow himself to be distracted by political detractors from Rivers State.

He explained that his mandate as the FCT Minister, is to deliver the dividends of democracy to residents of the FCT.

“I am not distracted. If I am distracted you won’t see this performance here. I focus on my work. I am not interested, i am the Minister of FCT, the work is going on. if distracted, how will these works be progressing? Am not even thinking about it Wike assured.

The FCT Minister expressed satisfaction over all the road projects commended the contractors for delivering the job within the specified time frame.


According to Wike, “This is the final inspection as regards the preparedness for the inauguration of various projects”.

“From what we have seen, we believe we are ready for the commissioning from 27th of May and will end June 6th. Is going to be a nine day long event”.

So, we are happy, and contractors are meeting up, and all the promises they made, they have been fulfilled and we have also fulfilled our own part to make sure that we have cash backup. None of them is complaining in terms of cash” Wike said.

Wike also hinted that the Metroline will be flagged off for commercial operation by 27th of this month.

“By the approval of Mr President, we believe that 27th of this month, we shall start the inauguration of various projects, particularly, on the 27th we believe the President will flag off the commercial operation of the Metroline.”

On the issue of some streetlights malfunctioning, Wike who explained that work was ongoing on the streetlights, however assured that every project meant to be completed before May 27th, will be completed.
