Insecurity: BWAC Boss Harps On Increased Border Security

todayMay 14, 2024

Background

In a bid to sustain the relative peace in Bwari Area Council following series of kidnap cases earlier this year, the Chairman, John Gabaya, has emphasized the need for bolstered border security measures.

Speaking with newsmen in Bwari, Gabaya underscored the critical role of border checkpoints in stemming the tide of criminal activities, especially in areas like Bwari which shares borders with neighboring states such as Nasarawa, Niger, and Kaduna.

He urged security agencies to intensify efforts in tracing the origin of criminal elements, emphasizing that effective identification of their locations could significantly mitigate the challenges posed by banditry and kidnapping.

Gabaya however, expressed gratitude for the presence of security operatives, attributing the relative calmness in Bwari Area Council to their ongoing efforts.

The Bwari Area Council Boss while stressing the importance of border security, reiterated his faith in the resilience of security personnel and called on them to remain steadfast in their mission to safeguard the FCT.

He further commended the swift and proactive approach of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike in addressing security concerns across the territory.

Gabaya lauded Wike’s dedication to the safety and well-being of FCT residents, expressing confidence in his leadership to bring an end to the prevailing insecurity.

The chairman’s plea for increased vigilance at border checkpoints comes in the wake of personal experiences of insecurity within his community, including incidents of kidnapping and loss of lives.
