The House of Representatives is set to hold a two-day Retreat for Members, to strengthen their legislative and oversight capacity, as well as foster collaborative efforts towards economic development and tax reforms.
In a statement in Abuja, spokesperson of the House, Akin Rotimi says the retreat will be declared open by President Bola Tinubu.
The retreat, with the theme, “Navigating Change: Legislative Strategies for Economic Transformation”, will aim to collaborate with development partners to support legislative institutions to sustain capacity development programmes for Members.
According to Mr Rotimi, the retreat is in alignment with its Legislative Agenda, which prioritises Economic Growth and Development, being the crucial role of the legislature in shaping the economic trajectory of a nation, as well as influencing the economic environment through its lawmaking and oversight powers.
The retreat is designed to further deepen the understanding of Members on the significance of the Petroleum Industry Act in transforming the oil and gas sector, he added.
Prominent Nigerians, experts, Captains of industries, and other Stakeholders are expected at the two-day retreat to share their knowledge, experience and ideas on how to transform the Oil and Gas sector.
