Kogi State Government says it is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the repair of the Okene and Lokoja old water boards to ensure potable water supply across the state.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Yahaya Danladi Faruq made this known in Lokoja during a sensitiziation in commomeration of the 2024 World Water Day.
According to Faruq, two reservoirs have been cleared of heavy blockages, the water treated and supply have commenced to some sections of old Lokoja on a daily basis.
Mr Faruq said the Greater Lokoja Water Works when fully operational would supply water to Banda and Kabba junction axis as directed by Governor Usman Ododo.
In a message, the commanding officer in charge of Chaplain Corps of Nigeria, Lokoja Commanding Division One, Chaplain Balewa Francis who spoke on the theme: Leverage Water for Peace for the 2024 World Water Day urged stakeholders to help tackle water issues headlong.
Executive Director of a Non Governmental organisation, Food and Potable Water Initiative of Nigeria FAPWIN, Hassana Ibrahim enjoined water consumers to be responsible and work in partnership with government to ensure potable water supply to various communities.
In a remark, the Director Administration, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, RUWASSA, Mr Maji Enoch who represented the Managing Director, Anovi Salami Ibrahim who highlighted the importance of water to life, promised to ensure sustainable drinking water for all.
