The Plan International Nigeria has launched a new campaign targeting twenty million girls and young women to access life-enabling opportunities.
At the launch in Abuja, the Country Director, Plan International Nigeria, Charles Usie said the event marked a milestone in Plan International Nigeria’s effort to support children, adolescent girls, women, boys, and men in the country.
Usie said the organization has been resolute in its commitment to seeing to it that children and girls have their rights to meaningful life, access to life-enabling opportunities, and have a say in issues affecting them every time.
”We have been resolute in our commitment to seeing to it that children and girls always have their rights to meaningful life, access to life-enabling opportunities, and that young people have a say in issues affecting them.”
According to Charles Usie,” Plan International in furtherance of its commitment to achieving equality for girls in 2022 launched a new Global Strategy “Girls Standing Strong.”
”In this strategy, we renewed our pledge to “strive for a world where all girls can claim and exercise their rights and live the life they choose”. In furtherance of this, a global campaign #UntilWeAreEqual was also launched.”
”This campaign takes a youth-centred approach, focusing on youth activism and campaigning providing young people with a platform to have their voices heard.”
He noted that the campaign, #StandWithGirls was the organization’s bold statement in Nigeria to provide all that is necessary to ensure that girls have their agency, and the voice to speak for themselves.
”The #StandWithGirls campaign by Plan International seeks to rally individuals, institutions, and structures into a movement led by, for, and of girls.”
On her part, the Shadow Country Director, Plan International Nigeria, Wisdom Omata stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to support girls and women in the country.

She said the time has come for girls and women to make decisions for themselves on issues concerning them.
