The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in its relentless pursuit for stability and security across the nation, has reported significant achievements in the ongoing military operations.
This is contained in a statement by the Director, Defence Media Operations,
Major General Edward Buba in Abuja.
According to the statement, during the operations, the armed forces exhibited their commitment to defending the nation and safeguarding its citizens.
It explains that troops neutralized 210 insurgents, apprehended 142 suspects, and successfully rescued 46 kidnapped hostages.
Additionally, 66 perpetrators involved in oil theft were arrested, thwarting an attempt to steal an estimated sum of N2,275,451,600.
The statement notes that in the course of these operations, a considerable cache of weapons and ammunition were seized.
Among the recovered items were 243 assorted weapons, including rifles, pistols, and grenades, alongside 5,453 assorted rounds of ammunition.
The vigilance of the troops also led to the confiscation of communication equipment and vehicles utilized by criminal elements.
It reveals that the Niger Delta region witnessed targeted actions resulting in the discovery and destruction of 63 dugout pits, 46 boats, and 120 storage tanks.
Troops also dismantled 81 illegal refining sites and confiscated significant quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined petroleum products.
Major General Edward Buba emphasizes the military’s unwavering determination to confront and defeat terrorist groups operating within the country.
He further stresses that as the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the armed forces stands prepared to counter any threats that may arise, reaffirming their status as a formidable force against adversaries.
