Kapital FM 92.9 The Station that Rocks!
Former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Mr. Olumide Akpata has emerged as the candidate of the Labour Party for the September 2024 governorship election in Edo state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary
Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh in Abuja.
The statement says Mr. Olumide Akpata scored 316 out of 340 votes to beat Kenneth Imasuagbon and Sam Eromosele Eboh who both got seven votes respectively.
Others are Sergius Ogun – 4 votes, Abegbe Ernest Osabhuohien and Blessing Akele – 3 votes respectively while Angela Enimien Aburime Asom and Loretta Oduware Ogboroko -scored zero each.
It adds that One of the aspirants, Prince Tom Tseghohi withdrew from the contest citing personal reasons.
According to the statement, the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee and the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Mr. Emetu Ikechukwu who declared Olumide Akpata winner of the primary election praised the aspirants for the maturity exhibited during the election and pleaded with them to rally round the candidate to ensure that the party wins the September 2024 election.
In his acceptance message, Olumide Akpata appreciated the aspirants and pleaded for their cooperation for the coming election.
He said that the victory was for the party and that more work is needed to achieve positive result for the party and the state adding that he is in a hurry to occupy the Government House as he intends to change the face of the state.
