Zamfara : House To Investigate Killings In Zurmi LGA

The House of Representatives has called for thorough investigation into the incessant killings, destruction of lives and property in different communities of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The resolution followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance by a member from Zamfara state Hassan Shinkafi, during plenary in Abuja

In his motion, the lawmaker said that the attack came at a period where citizens were experiencing hardship due to economy downfall.

This according to him had caused severe pain on the indegenes and settlers in the communities.

He said the affected communities had lost many shops, houses, motorcycles, foodstuff among others worth hundreds of millions and two police officers attached to the Zurmi Police Divisional Headquarters.

Adopting the motion, the House urged the Inspector General of Police to set up a tactical team that would unravel the mystery behind the incessant attacks and report back to the House in two weeks.

The House also urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to urgently come to the rescue of the affected persons with relief materials.

The House equally urged the Federal Government to deploy more military personnel in the affected areas to avert any further occurrences.

The House mandated the committee on Defence, police Affairs, Humanitarian Disaster Preparedness and Legislative Compliance to ensure compliance with the directive.
