In view of the security concerns and economic situation of the country, the House of Representatives has frowned at the decision of Management of the National Examination Council, NECO, to bring about 1,500 of its staff from across the country to its headquarters in Minna to write 2024 promotion examinetion.
Adopting a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by a member from Oyo State, Akeem Adeyemi, the House said the board should consider suspending the decision and allow the promotion examination to be done at its zonal offices across the country.
The Lawmaker who highlighted the risks of requiring 1,500 NECO staff to travel amid insecurity and economic challenges proposed conducting the exams at regional offices to mitigate these concerns.
The motion has been referred to the Committee on Education, Examinations Board and Basic Education for further Consideration.
