Wike To Complete 13km ISEX Road By December

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has reiterated its commitment to complete the ongoing 10 lanes Inner Southern Express Way by December.

Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike made this known during an inspection of the projects in Abuja.

The Minister who described the four-way 13.193-kilometre road with 10 lanes, from Southern Parkway to Ring Road II Galadimawa roundabout as a project that would change the landscape of the city when completed, said the Administration was determined to fund people oriented projects.

On the inner southern carriage way, you can see how huge it is, and a very ambitious project.We are not afraid of tackling it. We believe by the grace of God, and with adequate funding, the project will be completed, and of course, will change the landscape of the FCT…the project will be delivered by December”.

“We are happy with the transformation going on in the FCT and with the support of President Bola Tinubu given to us, we have no choice but to deliver for the residents to be happy. “

The Minister also inspected a 15-kilometre Left-Hand Services Carriageway of the Outer Southern Expressway Stage II from Ring I Junction to Wasa Junction, and expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, Shehu Hadi Ahmad stated that the Left-Hand Services Carriageway project began from Apo roundabout to Wasa Junction.

According to Ahmad, the project which was awarded at the cost of N17.6 billion with N5.1 billion already paid, had attained 57.8 per cent completion but required over N12.5 billion to deliver the job.

The FCDA Boss further explained that the Inner Southern Expressway had attained 30℅ completion, awarded at N91.8 billion, with N26.7 billion already paid, now left to clear #14 .1billion outstanding liabilities.

The Deputy Director of the firm handling the project, Mr Fan Jin hinted that the project initially awarded to be completed in 2027, could be fast tracked with proper finding.

He noted that the road has four interchanges, eight bridges, 15 river bridges, five pedestrian bridges and other ancillary facilities.
