Worried about the insecurity issues in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory Administration wants residents to support security agencies with vital information to work with, rather than attempting to politicize the insecurity matter.
Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike who gave the advice while interacting with Journalists in Abuja, said effective intelligent gathering would help to address the insecurity menace.
He stressed the need for residents to appreciate government’s effort in view of the successes recorded so far, since President Tinubu summoned and gave Service chiefs marching order to live up to their responsibilities.
Wike cautioned those playing blind eyes to security agencies and Government’s efforts in the fight against crime to desist from unhealthy criticism.
He specifically urged politicians cashing out on the current security challenges to cause panic among FCT residents to have a rethink and stop raising false alarm.
On measures being taken by government, Wike revealed that President Bola Tinubu has given an approval for emergency procurement of digital tracking tools to help halt kidnappers in their tracks.
Wike who noted that the emergency approval by the president, would change the story, lamented that lack of adequate equipment in the past had led to the recent unpleasant situation.
According to Wike, information obtained from the suspects had led to the arrest of some kidnappers who were paraded by the Police over the weekend.
The FCT Minister while noting that every nation has pockets of insecurity, including developed nations, assured that security can never collapse in the FCT as it is being portrayed in some quarters.

“All over the world, we have heard where armed men went to school in cities and shot at will, killing 15 to 16 people in the United States in Britain as developed as they are. That does not mean that the security in those cities has collapsed.
“After the first kidnapping incident in Bwari, President Tinubu summoned the service chiefs and my humble self and within a few days you have seen what they have achieved. But nobody is talking about that. Nobody has come to commend them. All you hear is security has collapsed.
“Nigerians forget easily and that is why we have always said let’s not play politics with the issue of security.
“Remember, some time ago, in the last administration, we were told that bandits came to Kuje prison and wreaked havoc. Nobody said there was no Minister of FCT. There was a minister.
“Nobody talks about FCT being the capital. Remember, there was an administration where terrorists came and burnt the United Nations building here. It was in FCT.
“Remember, there was an attack to burn the police headquarters. There was a minister, Wike lamented.
