Productivity and Cooperation are key in achieving set targets.
The new Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Shinkafi stated this during the handing over ceremony, in Abuja.
He commended his predecessor, Didi Walson-Jack, for laying what he described as a sound foundation, which he will build upon.
“My predecessor who I am sure has laid a very sound foundation for me to leverage on is what I want to extend to those here, especially the directors, even though the Permanent Secretary has given you a clean slate but my style is, anybody that works is my friend, if you do not work forget it and you don’t get anything, So, right from here know that” Shinkafi stated.
“I don’t have any friends but those that work are my friends because we have deliverables to deliver to the people and on that note I solicit for cooperation because there is nothing like cooperation and if we cooperate we achieve our objectives and everybody is happy at the end of the day and we deliver on the mandate the Ministry is tasked upon”.
“On this note, I am not going to deviate from what my predecessor has been working on, most especially, the mandate of the Ministry in the areas of water infrastructure development, sanitation programmes, community engagement, partnerships, innovation and technology” he added.
Earlier, the out-going Permanent Secretary, Didi Walson-Jack, in her handover speech commended the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Joseph Utsev, the Minister of State, Bello Goronyo, and former Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu along with the staff for the uncommon support given to her.
“I am confident that the Ministry will reach new heights of success under your leadership. As I hand over the reins i will like to give a piece of advise to the entire staff, building on the progress we have made together is paramount”.
“We have achieved significant milestones and we must maintain the momentum. Let us continue to work collaboratively pushing boundaries and striving for excellence in every endeavour”.
“Change is inevitable and it brings new opportunities, so brace for the challenges ahead with the same determination and zeal that have defined our efforts so far”.
“I therefore implore you to support the incoming Permanent Secretary as much as you can to propel this Ministry to even more significant accomplishments. May the Federal Ministry of Water and Sanitation continue to flourish and contribute to the well-being of our beloved nation, and may successes accompany this journey ahead”.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Director of special duties, Phoebe Nwandu, appreciated the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Didi Walson-Jack for her countless contributions, selfless service, and exemplary conduct during her tenure as Permanent Secretary, which paved the way for the success recorded by the Ministry.
