Kidnapping : IGP Launches FCT Special Squad

To combat the recent spate of kidnappings in the Federal Capital Territory, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has established a Special Intervention Squad.

At the unveiling of the Special Squad in Abuja, the police chief stated that the team consisted of specially trained mobile police personnel who are supposed to respond quickly to security breaches in the FCT.

The IGP said that the squad would engage in massive community policing and will be replicated in neighboring states.

He called for collective efforts to decimate kidnappers and other criminally-minded individuals in the FCT.

The abduction of six siblings and their father in Bwari Area Council of the FCT on January 3, 2024 generated outrage from residents.
