Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State has refuted allegations that his administration imposed a ban on alcoholic beverage sales in Suleja and Eight Local Government Areas.
In a Statement in Minna, the Niger State Capital, Governor Bago describes the story as false and misleading.
He clarifies that the state’s Liquor and Licensing Board, implicated in the alleged ban, is yet to be established.
Governor Bago emphasizes that he never issued such a directive and has instructed security agents to apprehend the self-appointed Secretary of the board, Mohammed Ibrahim, to investigate his motives.
The Governor therefore urges the public and media to disregard such claims and seek clarification from authorized government officials.
