Armed Forces Neutralize 40 Terrorists, Arrest 191 Criminals Nationwide

The Armed Forces of Nigeria says it has executed coordinated strikes involving ground and air forces on terrorist enclaves and hideouts, resulting in the neutralization of over forty terrorists and the arrest of one hundred and ninety-one individuals from various geopolitical zones.

Major General Edward Buba, who stated this while addressing newsmen on the ongoing military operations, emphasized the Armed Forces’ commitment to end terrorism and insecurity nationwide.

According to him troops, strategically deployed across the country, conducted operations to establish a safe environment for citizens to carry out their lawful duties.

He explained that the troops targeted terrorists enclaves and strongholds with the aim of eliminating the leadership and foot soldiers of the terror groups.

Major General Buba stated, “Troops will continue to go after these terrorists and apply military pressure to destroy them and their cohorts across the country. Additionally, troops conducted ambushes, raids, fighting patrols, and other forms of offensives against the terrorists.”

The Director noted that during these operations, troops recovered 72 assorted weapons and 338 assorted ammunitions, arrested 68 oil theft perpetrators, and rescued 80 kidnapped hostages.

He gave the breakdown of recovered weapons and ammunitions to include various firearms, hand grenades, and live cartridges.

General Buba further explained that items such as vehicles, mobile phones, motorcycles, and a sum of N895,900.00 were also recovered.

He noted that In the Niger Delta area, troops destroyed 23 dug-out pits, 30 boats, 99 storage tanks, 2 motorcycles, and 13 vehicles adding that items such as cooking ovens, speedboats, pump machines, were also recovered with 68 illegal refining sites destroyed.

General Buba said troops equally recovered significant quantities of stolen crude oil, illegally refined AGO, DPK, and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), emphasizing that the primary goal of ongoing operations is to destroy terrorists and their cohorts across the country, with the first priority being the protection of the citizens of Nigeria.
