The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC FCT command has deployed over 2500 regular and special Marshals to ensure effective traffic management before, during, and after the yuletide celebrations in the territory.

Yuletide: FRSC Deploys 2,500 Personnel For Traffic ManagementFCT Sector Commander, Mr Muta’a Chorrie who stated this during a special patrol along Dutse – Bwari – Kaduna Road in Abuja said that “Help Areas” have been activated along major routes, especially along Zuba -Giri -Gwagwalada – Lokoja highway for 24 hours emergency services.

He said that adequate personnel have been deployed to the four entry and exit routes as well as some high-traffic volume roads in the FCT to enhance the free flow of traffic.

At the Bwari Central Motor Park, the Sector Commander appealed to union leaders to support the ongoing efforts to ensure zero accidents during the ongoing Ember Months Campaign.

He identified overloading, use of phones while driving, overspeeding, and dangerous driving as the major causes of road accidents.

He stressed the need for commercial drivers to change their attitude, avoid intake of alcoholic drinks, and illicit drugs, and always respect the rights of other road users. ALSO READ: FRSC Strengthens Collaboration To Achieve UN Decade Of Action On Road Safety

According to him, no fewer than 100 traffic offenders have been arrested and prosecuted by Mobile Courts while one is currently serving a month’s jail term at the correctional center.

Mr. Chorrie noted that sensitisation campaign would continue in major motor parks, religious centers, and recreational centers to bring about the needed safety on Roads.

The Sector Commander was accompanied by some of the special Marshals while fliers were distributed and other educational materials to motorists traveling through the Bwari-Jere highway to the northwestern part of the country.
