In a strategic move to reinforce security measures and enable internally displaced persons to return home, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, said ongoing efforts are in place to enhance military operations across the country.

The CDS stated this when the Executive Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, paid him a visit at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

General Musa commended the Governor for his dedication to enhancing security in Benue State and assured alignment with these goals, emphasizing ongoing efforts to enhance military operations professionally.

The Chief of Defence Staff stressed the importance of collective responsibility for security, affirming the armed forces’ dedication to restoring peace nationwide.

He further explained that the collaboration between the Benue State Government and the military reflects a unified stance against security challenges, with a shared objective of creating a safer environment for residents and fostering economic growth in the region.

Earlier, the Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia expressed appreciation for the strides made in restoring peace to the region, acknowledging the Nigerian Army’s efforts, which he said had positively impacted the state since May, resulting in a substantial reduction in insecurity.

While expressing confidence in the military’s ability to maintain peace, the Governor emphasized the need for sustained efforts towards achieving absolute peace.

Reverend Father Alia, who pledged the support of the Benue State Government to the military, prayed for the well-being of the troops and requested additional interventions to secure the State.

He also proposed the creation of operational bases and barracks relocation, especially along the Cameroon border, given Benue State’s rich solid mineral deposits.
