Abscondment : NCPC To Strengthen Relations With SCPWBs

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC is to strengthen its working relationship with the State Christain Pilgrims Welfare Boards.

This is to ensure a smooth pilgrimage and check abscondments.

A communique at the end of a Four day retreat in Jos, the Plateau state capital, says the commission is to evolve an effective screening system where State Secretaries of Christain Pilgrims Welfare Boards, SCPWBs will henceforth not be allowed to guarantee more than two Pilgrims.

According to the communique, where the SCPWBs desires to provide more than two then there must be a written undertaking to the NCPC Executive Secretary.

The retreat also agrees that the commission should design and develop a whistle blowing mechanism for staff perceived to be involved in aiding the abscondment of Pilgrims.

It stresses that the screening exercise should be led by senior and experienced officers to avoid incidents of abscondment.
