Wike Flags-off 49 Road Projects

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has flagged-off 49 roads for resurfacing in Asokoro and Part of Maitama in the second phase of roads rehabilitation projects in the territory.

At the ceremony that took place at AYA Roundabout in Asokoro,Abuja, the Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike said that funds to rehabilitate the 49 roads were available.

The Minister thanked President Bola Tinubu for granting FCTA the approval to exit from TSA, a development he said has made it possible to raise funds for the contracts being awarded.

Wike vowed that the FCT Administration would continue to take hard decisions and bold steps to ensure that policies and programmes favour the generality of people, in line with the renewed hope agenda.

The FCT Minister also promise to ensure that 80 ℅ of projects initiated by previous administrations are completed under his leadership, as Government is a continum.

He explained that the second phase of the resurfacing when completed will make Abuj wear a new look.

Wike said he would not be distracted by protesters who according to him were ‘paid to protest on the streets’.

According to him, before the end of the year the, FCT Administration will Flag-off the Wuse and Maitama resurfacing road projects .

“Before May 29, 2024 roads in the Federal Capital Territory will wear a new look.The current administration led by Bola Tinubu is renewing hope of the people…We are not going to be disturbed by protest, this is democracy…We are going to remain focussed on the mandate that Tinubu gave us”.

The Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud appealed to residents to cooperate with the contractors to enable them deliver on their mandates.

The Executive Secretary FCDA, Shehu Ahmad Hadi noted that the first phase of resurfacing, covering 135 roads had attained over 60℅ completion.

He also stated that the Authority would effectively monitor the projects, segment by segment to guard against blocking all roads at the same time.

The Chairman Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Ibrahim Bomai and the House Committee Chairman on FCT, Muktar Betara unanimously pledged the commitment of the lawmakers to give Wike the needed support in his quest to transform Abuja.

The Managing Director of Arab Contractors, Mr Mohammed El Assar promised to deliver a good job within the stipulated time frame.
