Nigerians have been advised to always preserve the environment towards addressing climate change.
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu gave the advise at a forum in Abuja.
The First Lady, said conservation of the environment remains critical as the global community is seeking ways to address problems associated with climate change.
She therefore stressed the need for concerted efforts to motivate people to venture into activities that would preserve the environment.
Represented by the Director General, National Women Development Center, Dr.Asabe Bashir, the First Lady said gardening promotes healthy living.
Also speaking, the wife of the former Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo stressed the importance of plants in preserving the planet and providing oxygen.
”Beyond the joy of gardening, it’s important to preserve our planet”.
Dolapo explained further, “Smell the roses and admire the colours, the texture, the pattern that are found in plants. Make sure you take pictures at the photo booth with friends and families and discover all the hidden treasures.”
The High Commissioner of South Africa to Nigeria, Mr. Thami Mseleku while appreciating nature in gardening, described tree planting as important because they are natural sources of medicines.
Earlier, the convener of the forum and wife of the former Head of State, Ajoke Mohammed said the passion for nature that would lead to positive impact on the ecosystem required patience.
