Delta Govt Begins Reconciliation Between Oil Companies,Host Communities

Delta State Government says it has started building peace between oil & gas companies and host communities to boost investment in the nation.e

The State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori stated this at the inauguration of the Urhobo Youth Leaders Association Executives and Award ceremony in Abuja.

Oborevwori explained that it is only when there is peace that the nation can be open to investments.

The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner of Oil and Gas, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, stressed that there is a need for realistic reforms by the government to develop the Urhobo kingdom.

He further requested the cooperation of all sons and daughters of the kingdom in building a new Urhobo nation.

Earlier in his presentation, the keynote speaker, a Senior Pastor of Help From Above Healing and Deliverance Ministry Worldwide, Dr Godwin Ube spoke on the importance of quality education to the development of the nation.

Dr. Ube added that the topic “Redefining the political and economic future of Urhobo youths” is coming at the right time as it has a lot to do with the restoration of the dignity of Urhobo and Nigerian youths in general.

The senior pastor further added that all that is needed for the repositioning of the Urhobo kingdom is unity.

In his welcome address, the National President of the Urhobo Youth Leaders Association, Olorogun Samuel Oghotomo urged the newly inaugurated executives of the association to continue in the fight for the unity of the Urhobo kingdom.

On his part, the newly inaugurated president of the FCT chapter of the association, Mr Kennedy Ejaname stressed that the association would collaborate with the Delta state government to make sure the Urhobo language does not fade away and pledged readiness to do his best for the development of the Urohbo kingdom.

“I want to assure you all that I am fully committed and willing to deploy my time and resources towards the attainment of our vision to establish and sustain a first-class association, managed professionally and responsibly; one that is flexible and adaptable to the needs of its members, recognized and respected locally and internationally.

“I humbly, therefore, request for your support and guidance, which would be crucial in bringing about the positive change that we all desire.” He emphasized.

highlights of the event were a cultural display and presentation of various categories of awards to some distinguished sons and daughters from Delta state.
