Conduct of elections in every democratic country must be transparent, free and fair, to ensure true representation.
To this end, the Nigeria Police Force has reassured Nigerians of its commitment to ensure credible off cycle elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has directed the deployment of adequate personnel to enforce law and order in these states before, during and after the elections.

He explained that the vehicular movement on roads, water ways and other modes of transportation have been restricted by the IGP from 12am to 6pm on election day in the affected states.
According to him the IGP has also banned security aides from escorting their principals to polling booths as well as privately owned security outfits from being involved in the election process.
He called on the public to cooperate with the police and other security agencies and report any suspicious activities, as they exercise their democratic rights peacefully.
