NLC, TUC Demand Dismissal Of Imo Police Commissioner

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, have demanded for immediate investigation, prosecution and dismissal of the Commissioner of Police in Imo state for his unprofessional behaviour and conduct during the NLC protest in the State.

The Deputy President, Trade Union Congress, TUC, Comrade Etim Oko stated this at a media Briefing in Abuja.

Comrade Oko also called for the removal of the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force and other officers in Owerri for harrassing and humiliating the NLC President Comrade, Joe Ajaero.

The Labour Unions also urged the Imo state government to immediately implement all outstanding and previous agreements on workers welfare.

The Union therefore resolved that if the lmo State Government fails to meet their demands, their affilates would be mobilized for national industrial action beginning from Wednesday 8th of November 2023.

The Deputy President of the NLC, Comrade Adeyanju Adewale who decried inadequate security protection for the protesters in Owerri said the abduction and torture of the NLC President was unjust and unacceptable.

The joint National Executive Council, of the two Labour Unions stressed the need to expedite action for justice on the matter.
