The Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reassured members of staff of his commitment to their welfare.
The Minister stated this during a meeting with the Joint Union Negotiating Council, JUNC, of the Ministry, in Abuja.
He also charged members of staff of the Ministry to remain committed to service as the country navigates towards prosperity.
While assuring the union of government’s readiness to support staff welfare, the Minister hammered on the vital need for professionalism and unwavering commitment in the discharge of their duties.
“So, if I give you support, it becomes a responsibility on your part to give me support. And the only way to give me support is by your dedication to duty. The era of people thinking government’s business is nobody’s business is gone. Government business is your business, and everybody’s business”.
“I have given approval for your training exercise as well as other welfare packages”.
Speaking on his readiness to work with the union, the Minister noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President required dedication to service, and full demonstration of professionalism across board.
Also speaking, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, disclosed that the meeting would now be held quarterly.
In his remark, the JUNC Chairman, Ukpenetus Bassey, appreciated the minister for his audience and pledged the union’s loyalty to service.
The meeting, being the first in a long time, was attended by the Permanent Secretary, top directors, and staff of the Ministry.
