The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it will deploy the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS for easy Voter Accreditation and authentication in the November 11th Governorship elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States. Loop

INEC Director for ICT, Dr. Paul Omokore who stated this in Akwanga, Nassarawa State during the ongoing Capacity Building Workshop for the INEC Press Corps in Preparation for the forthcoming Governorship elections explained that a Voter would be identified by either the fingerprints or facial identification, hence where the BVAS could not identify a Voter by the two, such a person would not be allowed to vote.

He explained that results would also be uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing Portal, IREV in real time on Election Day.

The Director-General of the Electoral Institute, Dr Sa’ad Umar said the Commission had commenced training for various Electoral officers and ad hoc staff that would participate in the Governorship elections on November 11th.

The Chief Technical Adviser to the INEC Chairman, Professor Bolade Eyinla said that the training was apt and appreciated development partners for supporting the Commission through capacity building, Voter Education, and Enlightenment.

In a Paper Presentation, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Mary Nkem said Collaboration between the Media and INEC was not only vital towards upholding democratic principles but would also foster public trust and confidence in the elections.

She also called on the journalists who would cover the forthcoming Governorship elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo States to work by the ethics of their profession in the interest of public peace.
