Senator Ifeanyi Ubah representing Anambra South, has defected from the Young Progressives Party ( YPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC ) on the floor of the Senate.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s defection to APCincreased the number of Senators on the platform of the ruling party from 59 to 60 and reduced number of those on platforms of minority parties from 50 to 49.
His letter of defection was read by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio during plenary in Abuja.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah cited irreconcliable differences between him and leadership of YPP for his exist from the party.

He explained that his choice of APC as a new political platform was borne out of
commitment to good governance, economic development and social progress, the party has demonstrated in governance at the federal level.
The letter reads in part ” I am willing to formally notify and informed the Distinguished Senate President and our colleagues of irreconcilable differences between me and the leadership of my party ( YPP).
” I therefore, resolved to move from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the most important party in Africa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) .
