D’Tigers defeated Serbian basketball team 81-53 to maintain their stunning form in the ongoing China-friendly basketball competition.

They secured a resounding victory over the world number six-ranked team with a commanding scoreline of 81-53.

This comes after an earlier impressive 75-70 victory over Team USA in their opening game in China.

Recall that the Nigerian men’s senior basketball team left the country last Monday for a playing tour of games in China.

This tour, which will continue until October 20, serves as a valuable opportunity for the team to further hone their skills and gain international experience

Their stunning form in China started after failing to advance to the Paris 2024 Olympics in a qualification series held in their home country, Nigeria (in the city of Lagos) in August 2023.

The team’s participation in the tour of games in China is just one facet of the Nigeria Basketball Federation’s diverse range of development initiatives.

It serves as a morale booster for the players in both the local league and from other leagues around the world after returning from the self-imposed ban by the Federal Government last year.

In May 2022, the sports ministry, with the approval of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, withdrew Nigeria from all international basketball competitions for a period of two years and set up an Interim Management Committee following the lingering leadership rift in the Nigeria Basketball Federation and players agitations for better welfare packages and treatment.
